Video call hypnosis for a fear of flying
Aerophobia, or a fear of flying, is an unpleasant emotion caused by the perceived threat of danger before and during air travel.
More than ten percent of the population report being afraid of flying making this a very common phobia even though people plagued with this fear often acknowledge flying is the safest mode of transport.
People with a fear of flying fall into three categories:
There are those people who are afraid of external factors relating to aviation such as turbulence or mechanical issues with the aircraft.
The second group are those with internal fears such as losing emotional control during the flight and calling attention to themselves.
The third group are those people who have both types of these fears of flying.

Symptoms of a fear of flying
People with a fear of flying often report dizziness, a pounding chest, chest pain, shortness of breath or hyperventilation, perspiration, butterflies, trembling and the sense of losing control or going crazy before or during flight.
What causes a fear of flying?
There isn’t a single universal cause for a fear of flying. Fear is a survival mechanism that’s learned through everyone’s personal experience.
Individual experiences initiate the development of this fear although it has been linked to possible hypersensitivity, the fear of airplanes or it could be related to other concerns such as panic attacks, claustrophobia or post-traumatic stress.

Fear-of-the-fear of flying
People unfortunate enough to have experienced a full panic attack related to flying are understandably reluctant to re-experience this and as such can develop a fear-of-the-fear of flying.
Fear of public embarrassment
Those who have developed a fear-of-the-fear of flying may also become afraid of creating a scene or losing control of themselves in front of others during a panic attack related to flying. Some people also develop a fear of losing control of their bodily functions during a flight induced panic attack.

• Do you imagine negative events before or during air travel that cause you further anxiety?

Removing the fear of flying
Fear is a highly functional survival mechanism that serves us well when appropriate. However, as flying is statistically safe, a fear of flying isn’t helpful, is very unpleasant and is unnecessary.
At the same time, it’s interesting to note that we are not born with this fear. This fear is a learned fear. A fear of flying is learned through the direct experience or indirect experience such as observation by the individual and as such each individual experience will be different. Because each experience causing the fear will be different, everyone requires a different, tailor made treatment.
If one is capable of learning to be afraid of flying it stands to reason that one can learn to be unafraid and confident of flying. Because fears aren’t stored in the conscious mind it’s difficult to change fears consciously.
Fears are stored in the protective subconscious mind. To remove fears in the subconscious mind we need to work with and communicate with the subconscious mind. The quickest and most effective method to communicate with the subconscious mind is with hypnotherapy.
As easy as it is to establish a fear, it’s just as easy to remove when working with the subconscious mind.
